1. Recording Actual births and deaths

There are several ways to include your Non-Financial events in Farm Focus:

  • In the Actuals screen, and

  • In the Working Plan - Livestock tab

In the Actuals Screen

There are several ways to include your Non-Financial events in the Actuals screen :

  1. Click on the Actuals >Needs Action Page

  2. Click on the Add non-financial livestock event icon

OR

  1. Click on Actuals>Stock Activity

  2. Click on the Add non-financial livestock event icon

For each event, you should record the following:

  1. The date of the event (event date)

  2. The type of event (birth, death, killed, missing, found, or transfer).

  3. The stock class (code).

  4. A description (optional).

  5. The quantity of livestock involved.

When entering a Birth event you'll notice an extra field called Parent Code. This field lets you allocate the event to a breeding stock class such as MA ewes, 2th ewes, or ewe hoggets so that breeding percentages can be calculated.

Click Save when you have completed the event.

Once the event has been recorded, It will be listed in the Stock activity tab of the Actuals screen, along with your other livestock transactions.

TIP: It is important to remember to enter in any birth events before any other events for that stock class. For example, you have 1000 lambs born and sell 500 of them. You will need to enter the birth event before you can sell the stock. This keeps the Livestock Reconciliation tidy as you progress through the year, and easier to move into the next financial year.

In the Working Plan - Livestock tab

  • Click into the greyed-out Actuals area in the Livestock Tab of your Working Plan.

  • Drop down the Stock class category and click on the relevant cell.

  • Click on +Add and then you can enter the livestock event details the same as you would within the Actuals screen.

2. Recording Planned births and deaths

During the planning process, you can also plan for births and deaths.

In the Working Plan - Livestock tab:

  • Click into the whited-out Plan area in the Livestock Tab of your Working Plan.

  • Drop down the Stock class category and click on the relevant cell.

  • Click on +Add and then you can enter the livestock event details the same as you would when adding Actual births and deaths.

  • Alternatively, click on View then +Added Planned Item, and enter the livestock event details the same as you would when adding Actual births and deaths.

TIP: You can not enter births and deaths in the Working Plan Cashflow tab as there is no cash associated with the event.

TIP: Delete actual non-financial events from Actuals > Stock Activity rather than the Livestock Tab in your Working Plan.
