Livestock weight yield

Enter a yield % against each livestock code to allow reports to display carcass weight or live weight.

Updated over 3 weeks ago

We can set livestock codes to default to live weight or carcass weight when you are coding. You can change to carcass or live weight as you are coding to override the default if applicable.

We enter a yeild % against each stock code. The software uses this yield to take any carcass weights to a live weight, or vice versa, to allow us to report consistently. For example if some lambs are sold store and some go to the meat processor and we enter a mix of live and carcass weights for the sales, then the software can take everything to carcass weight or everything to live weight to give us valuable insights into performance.

Go to Settings > Codes > Farm Codes. Refer to article customising your Livestock Codes here.

If you are unsure which yield to enter, we recommend using the Beef and Lamb NZ figures as a start., but the % can be changed to suit your farm.
