Improve security by using Sign-in with Google or Sign-in with Microsoft or Multi-factor authentication (MFA)

To improve security, Farm Focus is moving to Sign-in with Google, Sign-in with Microsoft or Multi-factor authentication (MFA). You can choose one option or keep your current login method.

1. Sign-in with Google or Microsoft

What is it?

It lets you use your Google or Microsoft account to log into Farm Focus and other websites without creating a new username and password.

Benefits:

  • One key for all doors: Use your Google or Microsoft account to access multiple sites.

  • Save time: No need to remember multiple usernames and passwords.

  • Enhanced security: Google or Microsoft help keep your account safe.

How to Set It Up:

  1. Before logging into Farm Focus, set up Sign-In with your Google or Microsoft account.

  2. You can use up to 4 devices with this setup.

  3. Click "Sign in with Google" or "Sign in with Microsoft" when logging into Farm Focus.

    Note: When logging in with Microsoft, this must be a personal account not a business account.

2. Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)

What is it?

MFA adds an extra layer of security by requiring a special code in addition to your username and password.

Benefits:

  • Extra security: Adds another lock on your account to ensure only you can access it.

  • Peace of mind: Even if someone knows your password, they can’t access your account without the MFA code.

How to Set It Up:

  1. Go to Profile > Personal details

  2. Scroll down to multi-factor authentication and click on the arrow.

  3. Open the Authenticator App on your phone or device. Select the + symbol to enter a new website onto the Authenticator. You have two options to link your Farm Focus account:

    1. Scan the QR code: Click the option and use your phone to scan the QR code on your Farm Focus screen.

    2. Enter a Setup key: Click the option and manually enter the setup key shown on your Farm Focus screen.

  4. Enter your Farm Focus password and the 6-digit code from your Authenticator App. This code changes every 30 seconds.

  5. Click Verify.

  6. Backup codes will appear. Keep these codes safe—they can be used if you lose your phone. You can print, download, or copy them. Once you click Done, the codes won't be available again.

Authenticator options

The authenticators we recommend that are free and suitable for both Apple and Android phones are:

  • Google Authenticator

  • Microsoft Authenticator

  • Authy

  • LastPass

Choosing the Best Option

  • Sign-in with Google or Microsoft: If you want a simple and quick way to log in using your Google or Microsoft account.

  • MFA: If you prefer added security with an extra step to verify your identity.

Disable MFA or Sign-in with Google and Microsoft

You can switch between Sign-in with Google and Microsoft and MFA at any time. Go to Profile > Personal details > Scroll down to Login Information.

You cannot directly switch from Sign-in with Google or Microsoft to Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA). First, you must revert to using your original password before setting up MFA.

Tips and trick

  • Be consistent. Choose one option: either Sign-in with Google or Sign-in with Microsoft or MFA. You cannot move between them.

  • The email used in Google needs to match the email used in Farm Focus.
